NEMCC GED TESTING INFORMATION
The General Educational Development Test (GED) is a test, which upon successful completion, merits a high school equivalency diploma. The GED is accepted nationally for admission to most colleges, training programs, and the military.
Requirements:
- If you are enrolled in an ABE/GED class, you will complete the pre-registration process in class.
- If you are not enrolled in an ABE/GED class, you are required to pre-register for the GED test and attend two nights of orientation. Orientation/pre-registration is scheduled on Monday & Tuesday nights, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m.
- Mississippi State-Issued Picture I.D. is required at registration and at each testing session.
- Your application must be filled out completely and must have the seal of a Notary Public.
- You must be a resident of Mississippi for at least 30 days.
- After completing the application you may take the test on the next available test date.
- You must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for testing.
- Exceptions for applicants age 16 or 17: You must be enrolled in or have completed a program of instruction provided by an adult education agency. Also, the applicant must be recommended by the agency and must submit the necessary paperwork to the examiner during pre-registration. Contact the lead instructor for further information.
Special Accommodations:
If approved by the State Director in advance, special accommodations for taking the GED Test can be made for GED candidates who lack visual, listening, or physical skills needed to complete the regular GED Test.
Test Schedule:
GED tests are administered at Northeast Mississippi Community College, Holliday Hall, Booneville, MS. The GED Tests begin at 8:30 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. on specified dates. See
schedule for testing dates. Testing dates are subject to change, based on number of testers. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled testing time. NO ONE IS ADMITTED LATE TO THE TESTING ROOM!
Cost:
Initial GED Testing fee is $8.00 per part, payable by money order upon pre-registration.
PERSONAL CHECKS OR CASH NOT ACCEPTED!
Each subject re-test costs $12.00. You must complete a "GED Re-test Form" and submit ID to be allowed to re-test.
- The minimum passing score requirements for the GED test will be a standard score of 410 on each test AND an average of 450 on the five tests in the battery (a total of 2250 points).
- You will receive your test results from the GED Administrator, NEMCC, in approximately four to six weeks.
What to Bring:
- Valid Mississippi Driver's License or ID Card
- Social Security Card-if number is different from driver's license
- Eyeglasses, if needed
Not Allowed in Testing Room:
- Cell phones or pagers, etc.
- Personal calculators, pens, pencils, etc.
- Beeping watches
- Children or other people not testing
- Food/drink/tobacco in the testing room
- Recording devices-phones, cameras, tape recorders, etc.
