Welcome students! I'm looking forward to a good semester with you all this new year. All of my handouts are located under Classes button. Check those pages and also under Assignments to find out each day's assignments if you miss class. Missing class is not an excuse for not having your homework. I also have a Style Sheet for you to go by when word-processing your essays. |

Classroom Etiquette ·
Tardiness—When you are tardy for class, you disrupt the class for
the amount of time that it takes you to enter the classroom, find a seat, and
“catch up” to the rest of the class. ·
Cell phones/pagers—When you enter the classroom, you
should turn off your cell phone and/or pager or messaging device. Because they are disruptive to the class
and they make it easy to cheat, they are not allowed to be on or visible in
class. I will take your paper and give
you a zero if I see you using one. ·
Attentiveness—While English composition classes are
taught in an interactive, collaborative workshop setting, I do expect your group
discussions to be focused on the assignment that has been given. Also, you should not be doing other
homework during English class. If you
are going to spend my class time doing your algebra, then you may as well not
come to class because you are not getting anything out of it, nor are you
contributing anything to our class.
Having private conversations with students sitting around you disturbs
and distracts from the class. Please
feel free to contribute to classroom discussions, but your thoughts and
opinions should be about the topic being discussed and should be shared with
the entire class. ·
Announcements and/or class information—Please check
the Northeast web site for announcements.
This web site can be accessed from your home, dorm room, or if you do
not have a computer that is connected to the Internet, you can use one of the
computers in the library. The web
address is www.nemcc.edu If you have any problems or need to talk with me about assignments, grades, anything, please feel free to come by to see me during my conference periods, make an appointment for another time, e-mail me, or call me. I’m glad you are in my class, and I look forward to a very enjoyable and productive semester with you. Anita
