Out with the old, in with the new.
Northeast recently held campus-wide elections for its Student Government Association officers for the 2008-09 school year.
Matthew Henderson and fellow running mate Katie Hellums captured to the top two spots in the association with Henderson taking the presidency and Hellums secured the vice-presidential nod.
Tyler Hill, who ran unopposed, easily earned the Secretary/Treasurer’s office.
When asked what the new president had planned for next year, Henderson said he wanted to have similar activities from this year and some new ones.
Henderson wants to advocate a Go Green Campaign for the school so that students and staff can learn more about environmental safety. Also, he is concerned about campus safety and has many ideas to improve it.
Hellums only wants to change one thing: student participation.
She said,” I really enjoyed all of the activities put on by this year’s SGA, but I want a better student turnout for next year.” |
