Due to ongoing renovations at Northeast’s Bonner Arnold, all summer basketball camps at NEMCC have been cancelled.
Northeast athletic director Ricky Ford regrets not being able to have the annual camps, but stresses safety as the main reason for canceling the camps.
“It’s a bitter-sweet deal,” said Ford. “We obviously are glad to see the construction, and renovations being done to Bonner Arnold (Coliseum), but we regretfully have had to cancel our basketball camps.”
“There’s just too much construction going on in there that will continue throughout the summer. We’d never risk taking a group of kids over there. Plus, there’s a lot of work being done to the floor, so we’re going to have to pick the camps back up in the summer of 2009.”
