Representatives
from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) recently
visited Northeast as a part of the school's reaccreditation process.
During the two and a half day visit, the SACS team reviewed the
focused report that was the institution's response to the problems
that an off-site committee found earlier in the preparation process.
SACS also evaluated
Northeast’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and interviewed
faculty, staff, and students about the QEP. The theme of the QEP
is Reading ROARS or Raising Our Academic Reading Success.
"The QEP
was deemed acceptable in every way and there were no questions asked,"
said Rilla Jones, associate vice president of institutional planning
and research.
"Out of the 80 standards that SACS reviewed, questions arose
about only two," Jones bragged. “These are two very minor
standards that require changes in the catalog, which will be made
the before the 2010-11 catalog is published this spring."
Northeast now has five months to form an institutional response
to the recommendations and QEP evaluation. The Institutional response
will be evaluated by Commission in June of 2010.
