A
tradition that dates back to the late 1990s is still going strong
in the Northeast nursing department.
“Feeding the Multitudes,” a mid-semester event when
the freshman nursing instructors serve lunch to the freshman nursing
students to officially welcome them to the program, began back in
the late 1990s.
The first event took place in the old East Dorm located where Childers
Hall stands today.
In addition to lunch students and faculty join in a time of devotion
and prayer.
The faculty buys all the food and everything needed for the luncheon
and the sophomore student’s help serve. The luncheon is mainly
for the freshman, but no student is turned away.
Christian Nursing Organization (CNO) is on of the many organizations
at NEMCC.
Officers for 2009-10 are Penny Clark; President, Sheryl Jackosn;
Vice-President, Hannah Jones and Jenny Nichols; Sectary, and Peggy
Russell; Faculty Advisor. This organization does so much throughout
the year. CNO reaches out to people who are in need in the community.
They also offer prayer before test, devotion meetings, prayer line
on Blackboard, donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
in Memphis, Tenn., give infant “onesies” to the hospital
with bible verses on them, stage a soup kitchen in December to help
local families, and collect $1 for dues.
If they have funds left over at the end of the year, money is donated
it to charity.
Students joined CNO to be apart of an organization that offered
fellowship, prayer and devotion.
