Northeast
theatre director Christopher Schager is at it again.
NEMCC’s
fall One Act Plays are now cast and scheduled, and with the addition
of a fifth play this year, the veteran director is out to display
as many of Northeast’s aspiring thespians as possible.
“I’m
trying to get as many actors on stage as I can,” Schager explained.
This year’s
“One Acts” consist of: "The Mystery of Twicknam
Vicarage", "Babel’s in Arms", "I’m
Not Batman", "A Coupla Bimbos Sittin’ Around Talkin"’,
and "I’ve Hit An Iceberg".
Performances
are set for October 22 and 24 at 7 p.m. and a matinee on October
25 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door. Northeast
students are admitted free by showing a valid student ID.
"The
Mystery of Twicknam Vicarage" begins with a body on the
carpet, three ridiculous Masterpiece Theatre-style suspects and
a bumbling Scotland Yard detective trying to solve the question,
“who killed Jeremy Thumpington-Fffienes?”
Characters
include Mona (Brittany Kather), Jeremy (Marcus Hopper), Sarah (Beverly
Mackey), Dexter (Jerry McCalpin) and Roger (Will Simpson)
In "Babel’s
in Arms," two blue-collar Mesopotamian construction workers
are handed a provocative task, build the Tower of Babel-or else.
How many stones does it take to get to heaven, anyway?
Characters
are Gorph (Samuel Cooper), Priestess (Ebony Dixon), Business Woman
(Aislynn Hamm), Eunich (Marcus Hopper) and Cannapfit (Dason Petit)
In "I’m
Not Batman" a street kid with a stomach full of grocery
store brand macaroni and cheese fulfills the ultimate Batman fantasy.
Characters
include Boy (Andrew Bledsoe) and Drummer (Alex Hargett).
"A
Coupla Bimbos Sittin’ Around Talkin’" consists
of three uppity, Queens-born girls who seem preoccupied with their
looks and men and one college-transformed feminist who thinks she
has it all figured out, until she meets the bimbos.
Characters
are Nancy (Ebony Dixon), Tess (Aislynn Hamm), Linda (Brittany Kather)
and B.B. (LeAnna Young).
"I’ve
Hit An Iceberg" is a comedy based on a talking head of
lettuce and a woman reevaluating her life. Are her Sunday jigsaw-puzzle
marathons really that pathetic?
Characters
include Man A (Cory Martin) and Man B (Brad Peery).
