Brandon Mercer of Kossuth holds up a pair of water bottles
he received after suggesting a pair of ideas that Northeast
Student Government Association (SGA) could do for activities
during the 2009-10 school year during Water Cooler Monday
in the lobby of the Haney Union on Monday, Aug. 17. Northeast's
SGA will also host a Water Cooler Monday on September 4 to
gather other ideas.

With
the beginning of a new school year at hand, the Student Government
Association instituted “NE Life is Good” Welcome week
and featured several new student activities.
One of the SGA’s newest activities is “Water Cooler
Mondays.”
The idea behind Water Cooler Mondays is that any student willing
to suggest (and write down) a student activity they would like to
see during the year, earns a free bottle of water.
Some students who participated in the first Water Cooler Monday
in August were very excited about the event mainly because they
were invited to give their opinion.
SGA president Ali Ballard of Tupelo explained that Water Cooler
Mondays (WCM) is an easy way to encourage students to get more involved
with student activities.
According to Ballard the turnout for WCM was great and a lot of
new ideas for student activities were suggested.
Northeast’s Student Government Association has scheduled its
next Water Cooler Monday for September 4 in the lobby of the Haney
Union.
