“Life
Starts Now” is the third album from Three Days Grace and is
the follow up to the highly successful “One-X.”
“Bitter Taste”
is the lead intro track to “Life Starts Now” and delivers
the hard, explosive rock sound for which Three Days Grace is known.
The track is most similar to songs that can be found on their debut
album, and was a strong way to start the new release.
Following that is the
lead single “Break.” While more radio-friendly, “Break”
still packs quite a punch, with a catchy chorus and is a song that
it is easy to fall in love with, thus making it an obvious choice
for a single.
“World So Cold”
follows this and ties in nicely with the previous track. Another
radio-friendly track that will more than likely be eventually released
as a single; this song can also easily be stuck in your head.
In case, you have not
noticed at this point, Three Days Grace seems to be taking a much
softer approach with this CD. It is a risk that plays off quite
well.
“Bully”
and “Going' Down” are two tunes that seem to be the
weak points of this album, but are still solid tracks overall.
The title track “Life
Starts Now” is a good way to end the album, although it is
also one of the less memorable songs from the album.
Now, rather than ending
on a negative note, I must mention one last song in particular.
“Last To Know” is a track that is unlike anything that
has ever come from Three Days Grace.
Ballad-like and beautiful
is the only way I can think to explain “Last to Know.”
It serves as such an emotional song and is a nice transition from
the first half of the album to the next.
If you do not feel at
all affected emotionally by this track, then Three Days Grace is
quite simply not the band for you. If there is any one track, I
recommend checking out from this album, this would have to be it.
Overall “Life
Starts Now,” is an impressive third album from TDG.
While it is too early,
for me to state if it is better than “One-X” or not,
I must say it stands a good chance of stealing that title as my
favorite Three Days Grace album thus far.
Definitely check it
out if you are at all a fan of the band or rock music in general.
