1. Homework will be required in lecture. At the end of the semester, this homework will count the same as one lecture hour exam. Students will NOT be given credit for homework when absent or when arriving to class late (after homework has been checked). Only exception: for an EXCUSED absence, students may show me the completed assignment BEFORE the class that will be missed or send the completed assignment to be checked at the beginning of the class. This does NOT apply to unexcused absences.

2. There will be 3 drop grades for lecture homework. If these 3 drop grades have been used due to excused absences, the student will be allowed to bring documentation for any further excused absences and turn in any further homework assignments missed at the next class meeting. Under no circumstances will credit be given for homework after the final day of lecture.

3. Students who miss a class (excused or unexcused),  are still responsible for getting the homework assignment for the next class and bringing it in on time. In most cases this will be the assignment included on the original assignment sheet. However, the instructor reserves the right to make changes, additions, and corrections. Any changes will be posted on my web page and all students are responsible for keeping up to date.

4. Working on homework during class time is not allowed, and the homework will be taken up and not returned.

5. Any student seen to be copying homework from someone else's work at any time will have both their partly completed homework and the work they are copying taken up (and not returned) and receive a grade of 0.

6. Absences will be counted in both lab and lecture. The maximum COMBINED number of absences is 8 for MWF lecture students and 6 for TR lecture students. Additional absences may result in being cut from the class (WV).  If emergency circumstances make additional absences necessary, you must let me know so that I may consider allowing you to remain in class. In both lab and lecture, missing more than 10 minutes of a class will be counted as an absence.

7. Students will be required to print various materials from my web page. Failure to do this in a timely manner may affect the grade in this course.

8. Lab attendance and participation will be an important part of lab grades.

   a. Unexcused lab absences will result in a grade of O for that lab.

   b. Excused lab absences will also receive a O until they are made up. Arranging makeup labs, which must be under the supervision of the instructor,  is the responsibility of the student. Labs must be made up BEFORE the lab test on the missed material.

   c. Unacceptable effort on dissection of lab specimen will affect lab grades.

   d. Late arrivals, early departures, or lack of effort to carry out lab assignments will affect lab grades.

   e. Failure to clean up lab area and work materials will affect lab grades.

   f. Unexcused absences on lab days when dissection is done will result in lowered dissection grades.

9. Students MUST arrive on time for lab midterm and lab final tests.  Those who arrive late for these tests or miss them will not be allowed to take a makeup test without a documented excuse.

10. All makeup tests (lab and lecture) will be given during finals. A written excuse explaining the reason for missing the test must be submitted at that time.

11. All doctor's excuses are subject to telephone verification as to both date and time of appointment.

12. No cell phone use allowed in class—this means talking, ringing, and messaging. No Bluetooth headsets msy be worn. Breaking this rule will result in loss of bonus questions on the next major test.

13. Please keep restroom trips to a minimum during lectures. You must take care of this before lecture tests, as no restroom trips are allowed during tests.

I have been informed of the policies listed above and understand the part they will have in determining my A & P grade.
