SCHAGER DELIVERS 2005 HUMANITIES LECTURE--  Northeast Mississippi Community College theatre and speech instructor Christopher J. Schager receives congratulations from fellow instructor Carla Falkner following his lecture entitled, “Extraordinary Forces: Theatre of Cruelty.”  Representing the Mississippi Humanities Council (MHC), Falkner also presented Schager with a $500 check for being named the college’s 2005 Humanities Teacher of the Year by the MHC.  His lectured centered on the life and work of Antonin Artaud.  In addition to his work at Northeast, Schager’s teaching experience is extensive, including the University of Mississippi, Children’s Theatre Workshop in San Francisco, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Oxford High School, Oxford Middle School and Children’s Theatre Workshop in Oxford.  He has earned various awards for his work, including the 2004 Lamplighter Award.  Schager received a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre from San Francisco State University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi.  He also completed 18 hours in communication at Mississippi State University and is currently enrolled in Fundamentals of Electronics at Northeast.  He also holds membership in several professional organizations.  The Mississippi Humanities Teacher of the Year Award is funded by the Mississippi Humanities Council.  Each year October is designated “Arts and Humanities Month” in the state.  The MHC helps the colleges and universities celebrate the occasion by recognizing one of their humanities faculty.  The winner receives a cash award and delivers a lecture.
