Dean Faulkner Wells is the niece of William Faulkner and the daughter of Dean Swift Faulkner. Her father was killed before she was born in a plane crash in 1935. When she was growing up she was entertained by stories told by her famous uncle. William Faulkner’s stories inspired her to become a writer and write her famous books.

Dean Faulkner Wells was educated in Geneva and at the University of Mississippi. She married Larry Wells and together they live in Oxford, Mississippi. In addition to her books, her work has been published in the Paris Review Parade, Playboy, Ladies Home Journal, Southern Living, and other periodicals.
