Eric Roberts

Eric Roberts, born April 18, 1956, was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, but was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Eric grew up around the theater and acting. His parents, Walter and Betty Lou Roberts, ran the Actor’s and Writer’s Workshop in Atlanta. Eric started off young appearing in his first play, "Toys for Tots," at the age of five. Though very young Eric took every part very seriously.

He was still small when his parents divorced, and this had a big impact on his life. During his teen years he ran with the bad crowd and used drugs and alcohol to fill the hole in his life. At the age of seventeen Eric was sent off to London to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Completing his studies in London, Eric went to New York city to study at the American Academy of Dramatic Art,

For  a year after leaving the academy Eric preformed a number of times and ended up with a TV role on "Another World." His first movie debut came in 1978 on "King of the Gypsies," one month after his father’s death.  He wrecked his car in June of 1981. The wreck put Eric in a coma for three days and he had a lot of broken bones. Eric had to rely on his talents only since the wreck had altered what he saw as his "good looks" a little. The road to recovery was shortened when Bob Fosse gave Eric a chance  in "Star 80."

Eric has gone on to many other movies and television roles.  He has married and now has one daughter.
