Jerry Lee Rice was born on October 13, 1962 and raised in Crawford, Mississippi. He was an incredible athlete in high school. He competed in football, basketball, and track and field at Crawford's Moor High School.
Today he considered the greatest wide receiver ever to play in the NFL, and arguably the greatest player the league has ever seen.
In 1998, he became the first player in NFL history to reach the 17,000 yard mark rushing or receiving. Also in 1998 he registered his 12th 1,000 yard season, becoming the first player over 35 in NFL history to reach the mark. In 1995 he had claimed NFL career records in receptions and yards, bettering the previous standards of 940 catches by Art Monk and 14,004 yards by James Lofton.
Rice is a 10 time All Pro ( 1986-90, 92-96) and has been named NFL Player of the Year twice in 1987 and 1990. He was Sports Illustrated Player of the Year four times in 1986, 1987, 1990, and 1993 and NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 1993.
