
Ronnie Musgrove was the 62nd Governor elected to the state of Mississippi. He was born July 29, 1956 in Tocowa, MS. He is a Democrat. He was a two term state senator and chaired the Education Committee.
Ronnie Musgrove is a graduate of Northwest Mississippi Community College, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Mississippi Law School. He is a father of two children, Jordan (17) and Carmen Rae (14).
In August 2000, Ronnie Musgrove started a program for Mississippi called Advantage Mississippi Initiative (AMI). In July 2001, Musgrove signed a bill to raise the teacher’s pay in Mississippi to the Southeastern average. In 2002, Mississippi was the first state in the nation to have a computer with internet access in every classroom. Mississippi was chosen for $1.4 billion Nissan Motor Company Production Plant. Musgrove’s training and experience has created more than $52,000 jobs and brought in $13.5 billion into the state. He was also recognized by peers as the chair of the National Conference of Lieutenant Governors in 1998. He currently serves on the Southern Regional Education Board (chairman), the Southern States Energy Board (chairman), the Executive Committee of the Southern Governors Association, the Southern Growth Policies Board (chairman), and the Executive Committee of the Democratic Governors' Association and the National Governors' Association.
