CREATING AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
We will spend one week in the
library. After a general orientation by one or more of the librarians, you
should use your time locating and copying the articles requested, labeling each
clearly so that you may cite and annotate later.
ASSIGNEMENT: Using your
major or career choice as your topic, locate information in the following 8
sources, and write an annotated bibliography. You will need to copy at least
one page to get the bibliographical information. In addition, please answer
questions 9 and 10 about our library resources.
1. One article from the ONLINE CARD CATALOGUE (copy title page,
being sure to get all bibliographical info.)
2. One article from EBSCOHOST
3. One article from SIRS (Social Issues Resources Series)
4. One article from CQ RESEARCHER (Congressional Quarterly)
5. One article from the
CHOICES
Make a copy of career
outlook, training
and experience and earnings (For this source, you do not answer the four
questions as you do with the other sources. Instead give the
following information:

What the
likelihood is of getting a job in your field upon gradation (in this area;
other places. Also include whether you are willing to relocate in order to gain
employment
·
What
education/experience you will need in order to meet the requirements of your
future job/career
·
What kind of
salary you can expect to earn

7. One article from FACTS.COM (Be sure to choose an Issues and Controversies article)
8. One article from LITERARY REFERENCE CENTER,

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Your annotations
must by typed, double spaced, and in alphabetical order (by the first word of
each entry).
·
Each citation
must include the following information:
1. a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme
and scope of the book or article
2. an evaluation of the authority or background of the
author
3. a comment on the intended audience
4. an explanation of how this work illuminates your
bibliography topic
·
Must include all
eight sources listed above, along with copies of the information gathered from
each.
·
Must include a
title page with the following information centered:

completed project will be due one week after library orientation.
