Revolutionary Group Project

ASSIGNMENT:

(A.) With your groups, you will select (or be appointed) an author, preferably one that really interests you, from this time period.

(B)  Familiarize yourself with your author’s character, particular style and theme, background and lifetime achievements.

(C) Formulate your information into a literary critique and explication, using works of your author to substantiate your analysis.

(D)  Present your information to the class in an interesting and lively fashion with the following criteria as your basis:

·        Information will be presented to the class in an artistic, yet scholarly fashion

·        Presentation must include visuals (posters, artifacts, videos, and/or props, etc.)

 (F)  Present a formally written document me on the day of the presentation. Critiques and any other researched material should be incorporated effectively into the paper.

SCHEDULE:  You will be allowed one week of class time to prepare for this project. You will be evaluated for your use or waste of this time each day by submitting a detailed written explanation of your group’s plans and activities at the end of each class meeting.

Group presentations will proceed in the order the authors are listed in our text.  Any exception must be approved by me. Because this is a group presentation, each person MUST participate actively in each phase of it.

In-class presentation evaluation will be determined by the following guidelines:

1.     Use (or waste) of class time

2.     Originality (method of presentation)

3.     Believability

4.     Knowledge of material

5.     Artistic appeal props, casting, costuming, visuals etc.)

While an overall grade will be awarded for the group presentation, each individual will also be evaluated following the guidelines listed below:

            1.  Quality of voice (articulation, volume, enthusiasm, etc.)

2.  Eye contact (with entire audience, not just one or two)

3.  Stage presence (including nonverbal delivery: posture, mannerisms, confidence, and poise)

4.  Knowledge of material

Your unit grade will consist of an evaluation of all the above requirements; therefore, it will be to your benefit to participate fully in all phases of this project, since failure to do so may jeopardize the effectiveness of not only your evaluation, but also of your peers as well. If a group determines that one (or more) member fails to contribute their share of work, I should be informed immediately, whereupon that person will be removed from the group and given a grade of 0.
