  • Course Description:

This course is designed to fulfill social science requirements for both transfer and terminal degree programs.  The major theme of the course is understanding and enhancing the quality of people’s intimate relationships.

 

  • Course Objectives:

This class will cover several topics including:

  • love
  • dating, coupling, and mate selection
  • sexuality and intimate relationships
  • the marriage experience
  • reproduction and parenting
  • violence and abuse
  • divorce in the United States
  • remarriage and remarried families
  • marriages and families in later life

 

 

 

  • Class Guidelines:

Attendance:  MWF classes:  the student WILL be cut out on the 6th absence

 

** Please carefully read the new attendance policy on the back on your class calendar.

 

 

                    Tardies:  Should be avoided at all cost.  Please do not enter

class if you are more than 5 minutes late.  Tardies are noted in attendance.

 

Make-up Policy:  All work is due on the day it is assigned.  One letter grade will be deducted for each day papers are late.  If you are out, you may send your assignment with someone else or e-mail it to me.

 

Tests will be made up on 2 days throughout the semester.  Failure to attend one of these days will result in a 0.  These tests will not be administered the same as they were on the original test day.  It is to your advantage to take the test on its assigned day!!

  • Course Requirements:

5 tests will be administered throughout the semester, each covering 2 chapters, with the exception of the last exam, which covers 3.

 

** You must supply your own scantrons for exams.  You will need approximately 6.  They can be purchased in the NE bookstore for around .10 each.

 

The final exam is comprehensive and taken from previous notes.
